Cómo elegir la funda perfecta para tu Kindle o eReader: guía completa - Bookmima

How to choose the perfect case for your Kindle or e-Reader: complete guide

If you've just bought a new Kindle, Kobo, or any other eReader (or you've been reading with one for a while and still throw it in your bag unprotected), now is the time to think about a cover that will truly protect it. We're not just talking about preventing scratches: a good cover prevents screen damage, liquid spills in your bag, and those silly drops that always happen at the worst possible moment.

Here are the criteria that truly matter when choosing, and how they are reflected in the covers we handcraft in our workshop.

1. The right size for your model

This is the most common mistake: buying a "Kindle cover" without checking the exact measurements. As a general reference:

  • 7" screen Kindle (Paperwhite, Colorsoft, Oasis) and Kobo Libra 2 / Kobo Clara: approximately 22 x 17 cm.
  • If your eReader has a different screen, measure the device (not the box) before buying. A cover 1-2 cm larger will hold it better and make accidental drops less likely when you open it.

In our handmade covers, we use precisely this "Ebook" size so that the device fits snugly, without any play.

2. Zipper closure versus magnetic flap

A magnetic flap is quick, but inside a bag or backpack, it can open by itself with friction, leaving the eReader exposed. A perimeter zipper closes completely on all four sides: it's the option that provides the most peace of mind if you travel, use public transport, or put your eReader in a bag full of things (keys, headphones, whatever). All our covers have zippers for this reason.

3. Real padding, not just fabric

A thin fabric cover protects against dust and superficial scratches, but it won't absorb an impact. Look for padded covers (with foam or wadding inside) if you're going to carry your eReader loosely in your bag, without an extra layer around it.

4. Materials that won't fade or deform

Your eReader will go in and out of its cover hundreds of times. It's worth ensuring the fabric is resistant to daily use and, if you like a specific print, that it's well-sewn and not just a low-quality digital print (this quickly shows in the wear of the edges).

5. Something you'll want to show off in public

This is more subjective, but it matters: if it's going to accompany you on the subway, in a coffee shop, or when traveling, choose a design that reflects you. It's a small but real part of why the reading community (BookTok included) likes to pay attention to this detail as much as choosing their next book.

Our eReader Covers

All are hand-sewn in our workshop, in "Ebook" size (Kindle 7" / Kobo), with a perimeter zipper and interior padding. A couple of designs currently available:

You can see the rest of the available "Ebook" size prints in our collections.
